Boudoir Photography Gallery

Boudoir photography gallery background: this shot was taken in a darkly decorated room, lit only by an east facing window - and the shot was taken in the afternoon, so there wasn't much light coming in. I was also limited at that time to a lens with a maximum aperture of f5.6. In this situation your choices are quite limited; you need to find some more light or you push the ISO to a high setting - and if you do that then you need to aim for a particular style of shot (more detail in Successful High ISO Boudoir Photography). In short you have to embrace the fact that the shot will be grainy, the colours muted and concentrate on the composition; targeting a high contrast black and white picture.

Technical Information

Camera: Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel

Lens: EF17-85 f5.6IS at 81mm

Exposure: f5.6, 1/160, ISO1600

Lighting

Daylight through glass door to her right, plus a small amount of fill flash.

Post Processing (Photoshop)

This high ISO shot of Katie has been converted to black and white (the colours were lack luster and detracted from the image) and has had the contrast boosted in a curves adjustment layer.
